Our Story

In America, only 13 percent of family businesses last over 60 years. Opening in 1933, and spanning 3 generations, Dean’s Bar has most of the field beat by over 20 years. Born in the days after the end of Prohibition, the Dean family, and their extended family of lifelong bartenders, have stood behind the pine on the corner of 29th and Tasker Streets from the beginning.

Throughout the years, Dean’s, in addition to St. Gabriel’s Church, has served as a cornerstone of this neighborhood, surviving the test of time.

Whether it be a reunion, a wake or a wedding, a Sunday Eagles game or a drink on a Friday night, Dean’s is where friends, old and young, gather to celebrate and to be with each other.

One word of advice - don’t let the rough exterior fool you, inside you’re sure to find a few blue Irish eyes, a cold drink, and a warm conversation.
