Field of Dreams Game - A Necessary Reminder

COVID phase 2 is looming in the distance. Masks are being dusted off to once again be stuffed into pockets until the prescribed moment of use. Violence in major cities is skyrocketing at an astronomical level.

In the White Sox home city, citizens mourn the death of a fallen officer and pray for her newborn child. In Dyersville, Iowa 8,000 Americans gather to try and capture a piece of everyday magic that have been few and far between. The movie that inspires tonight’s game evokes lessons. It’s a father-son story that teaches us to never let things go unsaid before it’s too late. It urges us to remember that a man’s worst moment should not always define his legacy. It reminds us that our country is too important to not use the pressure from trying times to turn stone into granite

Even though we may not know what the coming months have in store, tonight, on a ballfield in the corn, we’re allowed to think that everything is perfect.

“It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again.”
